Conga drums up support for BBC Children in Need

We banged our drums and surprised lunchtime shoppers by performing a 'flash mob' style conga down Newcastle's busy Northumberland Street for Children in Need.

At lunchtime on Friday 16th November, TH_NK performed a 'flash mob' style conga down Northumberland Street in aid of Children in Need.

We organised the conga through the networking website Facebook and the response to the event was overwhelming. Senior creative, Brandon Stewart who helped arrange the event said: “We chose Northumberland Street as a place to stage the line because it’s nice and long and we could snake around and get people involved.”

The fundraising event, which saw approx 100 people doing the ‘conga’ down Northumberland Street, raised a fantastic £520 for Children In Need. It also provided shoppers with surprise entertainment over the busy lunch time period.

The procession ended with an ovation by the Newcastle Monument, and in true flash-mob style, we disappeared just as quickly as we had assembled.
