The innovative online portal will support professionals across North Tyneside in their work to combat drug misuse and associated problems in the community.

The project enables us to bring expertise and innovation in web design and development to the heart of issues that affect the community.

The partnership between North Tyneside Council, North Tyneside Primary Care Trust, the Police, The National Probation Service and the voluntary sector has formed the North Tyneside Drug Action Team (DAT). This collaboration has already proven to be a vital resource amongst healthcare and community professionals offering information to support their work with drug misusers.

Through the development of an online portal, this new offering will dramatically enhance the resource both as a community forum where users can discuss topics and advice around drugs related issues as well as obtaining practical information on available rehabilitation resources in their area.

Working with DAT has been a really rewarding project as it has given us the opportunity to focus our technical and creative skills towards a resource that is really going to make a difference to the local community. We’re hoping it will form a robust platform that other partner organisations can adopt on a national scale.
