An altogether better experience for NHS patients and visitors

We have launched a major web development project to enhance the online experience for one of the most successful and profitable NHS Foundation Trusts in the country, Newcastle Upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

This dynamic new website - www.newcastle-hospitals.org.uk - encompasses highly respected hospitals such as the Freeman, the RVI, Newcastle General, and Genetic and Fertility services at the Centre for Life.

Relied upon by a patient catchment area of 2 million people, the main focus of the website is to cater for patient and visitors’ needs by helping them access information in the easiest and most intuitive way possible. Features of the site include an interactive map of each hospital which incorporates Google maps and a comprehensive ‘jargon buster’ to help people understand medical terminology in a language they can easily understand.

The site is set apart from other organisations by a host of special features, including video footage of consultants sharing their insights into the latest pioneering treatments, as well as a host of articles from other web sources which contain independent views and comments about Newcastle Hospitals’ services.

We were delighted to work with such an ambitious team from Newcastle Hospitals on a web project which has truly set them apart from other foundation trusts in the country. To know that all of our hard work is making a difference to the experience of Newcastle Hospitals’ patients is very rewarding indeed.

Since the launch of the new site last month, Newcastle Hospitals is already seeing positive results with an increased number of visitors spending 50% longer on the site with a lower bounce rate and viewing a higher number of pages.

I have found the Newcastle Hospitals' new website modern and inviting as well as user-friendly and easy to navigate. It helps me to find exactly what I’m looking for really quickly. In particular, I think the Google maps are a great feature. It looks like a site I would want to use and trust, which is exactly what you need from an NHS website.
