Two wheels. One fantastic challenge.

We did it! 13 of us from TH_NK cycled from our office in Newcastle to our office in London, a whopping distance of 426 miles over five days. 28 punctures, 8 falls, 4 swollen knees – but it was worth it as we’ve raised over £23k for Breast Cancer Campaign.

We took on this cycling challenge for Breast Cancer Campaign to help the charity fund world-class research projects and make a real difference to those whose lives are affected by breast cancer. Our original target was £20k, but thanks to the overwhelming support we have received from clients, friends and family, we have smashed our goal.

After leaving our Newcastle office on Friday 24th September and briefly stopping for a few team shots on the Millennium Bridge, we started our 90-mile journey to Thirsk in picturesque but very hilly North Yorkshire, which was by far the hardest day of journey. The highlight of day two was crossing the Humber Bridge near Hull before settling down for a good night’s sleep in Laceby, Grimsby. At the end of day three in Boston, Lincolnshire, it was sports massages all round to give us the strength we needed for the last two days of the Tour De TH_NK.

On the fifth day, we filled our breakfast plates high and set off from Burwell in Cambridge for the last leg of the challenge, clocking up 426 miles in total and enduring lots of punctures and pain along the way. But it was all worth it when we reached our London office in Clerkenwell on Tuesday evening to receive the warmest of welcomes by colleagues, clients, friends and the Head of Community Fundraising at Breast Cancer Campaign, Colin Norford, who had made the journey especially to thank us in person.

This was a truly awesome effort by all concerned; the ones who cycled all that way, the support staff and all the wonderful sponsors that have helped to raise so much for Breast Cancer Campaign. It was a real pleasure to be able to be there at the finish line on day five to witness the camaraderie between everyone at TH_NK and most importantly to thank them for helping us continue our mission to beat breast cancer.

We would like to thank everyone for their support and sponsorship, in particular, Bupa, Northern Rock, Beringea, The Blueprint, Graham Ash Architects, Protech HR, Adam and Eve, Congregation Partners, The Hat Club, Chris Beck, Rod Henwood, Arabel Engineering, MT Rainey, Onyx, Osborne Clarke, Neil Blair and Nice Agency. We couldn’t have done it without your support, so thanks a million.

We are still collecting sponsorship money, so please dig deep and see how much we can smash our £20,000 target by.

The saddle sore was all worth it. I’m so pleased we have managed to raise so much for such a worthwhile charity close to our hearts.
