One of the most successful and profitable NHS Foundation Trusts in the country, Newcastle Upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, has entrusted the redevelopment of its entire website to TH_NK.
Newcastle Hospitals manages the running of highly respected hospitals such as the Freeman, the RVI and Newcastle General as well as a number of smaller medical centres. To meet this challenge, the experience design team has undertaken a fully user-centred approach to designing the website. The result will ensure that the site is easy to navigate as well as providing essential information for those who require treatment from Newcastle Hospitals.
Phase one of the project, which is due to go live later this year, will be focussing on the needs of the patients and their visitors, providing a range of interactive tools and features which will significantly improve what can often be a difficult experience. These special features include interactive maps, treatment paths and key information on departments and services.
The project is being delivered through our partnership with RedDot – an enterprise content management system which will allow Newcastle Hospitals' team of 11,000 employees to continually evolve and improve its Web presence.
We are really looking forward to seeing how this dynamic new website can help us make patients and the visitors’ experience of our hospitals as smooth as possible. TH_NK’s team have really engaged in the brief, and in a very short space of time, managed to understand the complexities of one of the North East’s largest employers. We are looking forward to continuing our work with them as we build our reputation as one of the UK’s most innovative hospital trusts.
This has been a really rewarding project to work on. It's great knowing that our ideas and technical expertise are going to make a real practical difference to people who rely upon the health service up here in Newcastle. Newcastle Hospitals have been a fantastically ambitious client to work with – the site is really going to set it apart from hospital trusts around the country.
